Biotin and Gut Bacteria Affect Hair Loss

Certain gut microbes use and produce essential B vitamins like biotin. “Free biotin may influence the composition of the gut microbiota, because biotin is necessary for the growth and survival of the microbiota. Indeed, biotin deficiency leads to gut dysbiosis and the overgrowth of Lactobacillus murinus, leading to the development of alopecia.” It is actually a little more involved than that, but it demonstrates the importance of B vitamins in our diet and how it may affect our health and hair!
