Versa is similar to Allergan's Juvederma Ultra in application. At this time Versa does not come with lidocaine, an anesthetic, and so we use a topical numbing cream or inject lidocaine for a block. Pain is variable per individual and many have this done without any anesthetic with no difficulty.
